Emi Motokawa, aka Emi M. is inspired by ancient universal Buddhist
concepts.   The images are  a modern spin off and by creating such art,
she hopes to TICKLE YOUR SOUL!   POP SPIRITUAL BLISS is what one
notable local artist called her art.   Her style has been influenced by
Japanese culture and the exposure to multiculturalism  growing up in Los
Angeles.  She paints many big-eyed characters because the eyes are the
window to the human soul.  She also sculpts and crochets dolls which
sells in a few L.A. boutiques.

Emi was born in Tokyo, Japan and moved to Los Angeles at the age of
seven.   Although she always enjoyed art,  she didn't pursue a formal arts
education because she was a dazed and confused young person without
a sense of direction (like many peeps that she knows). After steering left
and right, one after another, she found herself studying at a Japanese
Buddhist seminary and flying around as a flight attendant in high altitude,
low oxygen atmosphere which helped her awaken to her artistic calling.
She is a self taught artist and now resides in Los Angeles.
